30% of global agricultural raw materials end up as wasted resources. In other words, 6% of our global carbon emissions are generated for nothing. That’s it. At Hubcycle, we are at war against that. We turn industrial waste into sexy B2B ingredients to make our food system more sober. We reinvent the industrial value chain by creating ingredients 100% made from unused resources. We purchase side-streams (byproducts) and turn them into competitive ingredients that we sell, with no compromise on quality.

Fruit pomaces, seeds and akenes are obvious ones. But you might be curious to know how we have found concentrated juices and fruit powder as a waste of some industries too. Wasting them is nonsense. We can’t keep wasting thousands of tons of such resources.

  • Job & mission :

You will be the Quality Assurance Director. Your role is tremendously important for our activity and brand image. 

We visited many manufacturing sites to confirm there is indeed something big to do. Now, it’s confirmed that it is ready to grow, and grow big. We are now in the hunt for a world-class quality expert to do it way bigger, way faster, and way better than us as beginners. So we want you to set and drive the Quality strategy in a global fast paced environment, keeping both, our company processes and product quality up to local and international regulation standards.

We feel that we are at the beginning of something huge. This is a unique opportunity to take responsibility from the beginning, and drive our Quality approach toward business successes with passion and boldness. 

Day to day will be more or less as follow : 

  • As a smart Business Enabler, you use Quality to build business momentum,

  • Keep our products up to local and international safety and HACCP standards

  • Liaise with PM/R&D teams to launch new products in the most efficient and agile way possible,

  • Be on top of local and international Law & Regulations to raise new business opportunities,

  • Remain on top of our game when it comes to Audits and Certifications (FSSC2200, Bio, Halal, Kosher), 

  • Develop, manage and monitor Quality & business related KPIs,

  • Be the light in the dark when it comes to Authorities Quality topics and Crisis Management,

  • Use all available resources (incl. AI) to develop and maintain a premium Quality management system,  and improve continuously our processes, 

  • Train, develop and maintain a high level of Company awareness of the “Quality Culture” to decrease Non-Compliances, and customers claims, 

  • Develop partnerships and negotiate contracts with existing and new third parts laboratories,

  • Build and develop your A-Player team to make Hubcycle ready to scale. 

  • The team around you : 

We expect you to develop and manage your team. At first you can count on the current team, the Continuous Improvement Manager and Quality Coordinators, to support you to understand  our activity, analyze it and identify our rooms for improvement. You will be guided into our specific model by our C-level team, including the CEO. 

Your reporting will go directly to the COO, with the CEO highly supportive in case of any technical need. 

You will have close exchanges with the Head of Sourcing & Head of Sales to help you cope with specificities of sourcing & selling things based on side-streams.

Profil recherché

  • Skills needed :

We are looking for someone who will have both, short & long term impact. Being able to adapt to a start up is important. We still need to learn, and we will need your advice to grow. 

Fondamental : 

  • We believe that at least 10 years of experience in the Food Quality world is a must to achieve our goals.

  • “Gate keeper” and “Business enabler”, you know how to evolve with agility and boldness. 

  • Your experience and perfect knowledge of French, European and international Quality regulations allow you to own the department and make proactive decisions.

  • Agile, you know when to step-back, be hands-on, and know how to take benefits from new technologies.

  • You understand how disruptive we are, and so you are able to use your “legacy” to build a new Quality model.

  • Cold blooded, you are comfortable with taking thought decisions, even under pressure.

  • Your leadership and great communication skills allowed you to successfully recruit & manage a team of 5 to 10 persons, including people on remote.

  • Fluent in English. Any other language is great.

  • Conditions :

  • Contrat : CDI

  • Starting date : ASAP.

  • Localisation : Based in Avignon (Your chance to live in Provence – France). We could consider the remote in very specific conditions. But as a fast moving start up, we can see that being here with us is the best way to share emotions & celebrate. 

  • Home office : 2 days a week maximum. 

  • Salary : You can see we are looking for experts. We know that comes with a price, and we will value that. Package will be fine tuned based on your experience. Uncapped bonus, and management package included. The more you gain, the happier we are.

  • First meeting : 30mins, content : Your background, experience & motivation. 

  • Second meeting : 60mins, content : Deep dive questions & scorecard. 

  • Third meeting : 60mins, content : Management team meeting

  • Fourth & last meeting : Café - Chouquettes - On site meeting with part of the team
