Our company :

As an industry expert, you know. You know that any factory has its own side-streams (processing left overs). They are not today’s priority, and they won’t be tomorrow either. Side-streams exist. That’s normal. The thing is, 30% of total volumes of raw material end up as wasted side-streams globally. That means 6% of our global carbon emissions are generated for nothing. Hubcycle reinvents the industrial value chain by creating ingredients 100% made from unused resources. We purchase side streams and turn them into competitive bulk ingredients, with no compromise on quality.

Side-streams - typical examples :

Black pepper skins & deoiled / spent spices are obvious ones. But you might be curious to know how we have found coriander seeds and even saffron as a waste of some industries too. Wasting them is nonsense. We can’t keep wasting thousands of tons of such resources.

Job & mission :

You will be the Global Category Manager of Spice & Herbs. We spent 3 years chasing low hanging fruits, analyzing hundreds of side-streams and creating tens of ingredients. Now, it’s confirmed that it is ready to grow, and grow big. We are beginners, and still sales figures are about 300% growth per year. We are seeking for an expert to do it way bigger, way faster, and way better than us. So we want you to develop sales, sourcing, product management, as well as your team knowledge in this category.

We feel that we are at the beginning of something huge. This is a unique opportunity to take responsibility from the beginning, and push it with no limits. 

Day to day will be more or less as follow : 

  • Own the sales of Spices & Herbs category, globally.

  • Apply your industry knowledge & value chain expertise to source the right side-streams & sell the right ingredients at the right place, to the right clients. 

  • Therefore you will own Sales, Sourcing, Product Management, and eventually orders delivery / coordination in your category.

  • This means you will hire your team.

  • You will own the full P&L & business plan of your category. 

  • You will be accountable of its growth globally. Opening new offices & regions will be you call. 

  • Keep the everyone on its toes regarding sales strategy & market needs (shortages, trends, etc.) in this category. 

  • Help your Product Managers to develop relevant specifications to achieve the best market fit.

  • Accountable of achieving ambitious growth targets of average multiple 2 per year. This will come with uncapped bonus, and management package incentive. 

We expect you to manage & animate a strong sales & sourcing pipeline from the beginning. At first we will provide clear targets to achieve. Later we will expect you to guide us on what is achievable in this category & therefore strongly contribute to overall company strategy. You can count on us to push you to deliver the best version of yourself. And we expect you to push us to become a better version of Hubcycle. We will always care about your opinion & vision on the market. 

The team around you : 

We expect you to create a team. At first it’s very likely that we will allocate Product Management & Sourcing resources to help you start. You will be guided into our specific model by our C level team, including the CEO. 

Your reporting will go directly to the GM / COO, with CEO highly supportive in case of any technical need. 

You will have close exchanges with Head of Sourcing & Head of Sales to help you cope with specificities of sourcing & selling things based on side-streams.

Profil recherché

We are looking for someone who will have both short & long term impact. Being able to adapt to a start up is important. We still need to learn, and we will need your advices to grow. 

Fondamental : 

  • We believe that, at least 10 years of selling or purchasing spices is a must to achieve our goals. 

  • Perfect knowledge of the spices & herbs industry B2B value chain.

  • Being able to anticipate quality & specification constraints of both clients & products. 

  • Strong network in the business, with no fear about your reputation.  

  • Experience in purchasing / selling internationally (not limited to one country). The wider the scope, the better. 

  • Great communication & listening skills : balance ego, clear points, always propose a solution when spotting a problem. 

  • Fluent english. Any other language is great. 

Bonus : 

  • Technical background in Food business is a plus, but years of experience can compensate for that. 

  • Circular economy mindset. 

  • Having already sold similar ressources (like black pepper skin, deoiled products, etc.) is a huge bonus.

Conditions :

Contrat : CDI

Starting date : Q4 2024.

Localisation : Based in Avignon (Your chance to live in Provence – France). We could consider the remote in very specific conditions. But as a fast moving start up, we can see that being here with us is the best way to share emotions & celebrate. 

Home office : 2 days a week maximum. 

Salary : You can see we are looking for experts. We know that comes with a price, and we will value that. Package will be fine tuned based on your experience. Uncapped bonus, and management package included. The more you gain, the happier we are.

Process de recrutement

  • The hiring process :  

  • First meeting : 30mins, content : Your background, experience & motivation.

    Product samples might be sent between those two meetings.

  • Second meeting : 60mins, content : Deep dive questions & scorecard. 

  • Third meeting : 60mins, content : Management team meeting

  • Fourth & last meeting : On site meeting (lunch) with the whole team.
